jeb_'s experimental combat snapshot for Minecraft Java. Hold attack to keep swinging, charge a hit for extra reach, and block while crouching.
About the snapshot
Combat Test 8c was released on 26 August 2020, based on Minecraft 1.16.2. It was part of jeb_'s series of snapshots testing changes to Java's combat.
The tests change weapon speed and reach, shield blocking, projectiles, and healing. They also add Cleaving, an axe enchantment that makes hits stronger and keeps shields disabled for longer.
jeb_ shared 8c through Reddit. It needs a separate installation because it isn't listed among the snapshots in the standard launcher.
Playing Combat Test 8c
Download the recommended modpack, or choose your own mods and servers. To install the snapshot in the vanilla Minecraft launcher, use Combat Test Installer. It can install either the vanilla version or a Fabric version where available.
